broadcasting in other countries

in most europan countries radio broadcasting was thrust into patterns of organizatiton and development quite different from those in the united states. goverments were quick to recognize the value of the new medium for educating or in some cases for propagandizing their people. control of broadcasting soon took one of three forms : 1. state ownership and direct operation, as in the USSR and eastern europe, 2. a state organized public corporation or authority relatively free of govermental influence, as in the british commonwealth, france, belgium, and germany, 3. a private corporation, with the state sometimes a partner with private interests, as in italy, sweden, and switzerland.
